Welcome to the Gambling Self-recovery Study

The Gambling Self-recovery Study uses Internet-based interventions to aid problem gamblers in their self-directed recovery. This study compares 2 self-directed treatment programs offered as FREE online resources. We are currently recruiting volunteers from across Canada to participate. All eligible volunteers will receive a $25 gift certificate each time they participate at 3, 6, and 12 months. If you are interested in participating, please see our eligibility criteria on our VOLUNTEER page. For background information on the Gambling Self-recovery Study, please visit our STUDY INFORMATION page.

Previous research has shown that self-recovery approaches for gambling problems work. For example, we found that after a year of using a self-help workbook that 43% of volunteers remained abstinent and 33% had cut their gambling by at least half (Hodgins et al., 2009). The present study is designed to test whether online versions also work.
